Bucharest, 24 August 2021 – Simtel Team (SMTL), a Romanian engineering and technology company listed on the AeRO market of the Bucharest Stock Exchange, built for Kaufland Romania, one of the largest retail companies in Europe, two power plants that involved the installation of over 1300 photovoltaic panels. The panels installed on the roofs of two stores located in Bucharest and Focsani have a capacity of 490.5 KWp. They will support the environment by reducing with 760 tons per year the carbon dioxide emissions.

“Photovoltaic power plants on the roofs of buildings, built for own consumption, are an efficient solution to reduce the energy bill and protect the environment. The two turnkey projects were completed in 2 and a half months and were based on precise requirements from the beneficiary. We thank Kaufland for trusting us in their implementation. We thought of the solutions and the planning so that two teams built the power plants in parallel, on both locations. Romania needs to capitalize more and more on solar energy because this is a real solution to reduce pollution and thus improve the quality of life and streamline energy consumption, energy independence of the beneficiary, and predictability of energy costs”, stated Iulian Nedea, co-founder and CEO of Simtel Team.

Simtel implemented the two installations projects of photovoltaic panels for the Kaufland Focsani and Kaufland Bucharest Militari stores. 720 photovoltaic panels were installed on the roof of the Kaufland store in Bucharest, on over 1300 square meters. On the top of the location in Focsani, 588 panels were installed, spread over an area of over 1000 square meters. Approximately 30 people were involved in the implementation, working in parallel on both projects. The period from design, authorization, acquisition, installation, and commissioning lasted two and a half months.

“We strongly believe that energy from renewable sources is a viable alternative, which helps maintain a cleaner and healthier environment. Kaufland Romania has undertaken its mission to constantly invest in a sustainable future, together with partners who understand the importance of this approach and can facilitate our access to the most efficient solutions. We set out to develop at least nine photovoltaic panel installations in other spaces belonging to Kaufland Romania annually until 2025. Here we are taking another significant step in this regard, and the benefits are clear. We make the most of green energy, with an immediate effect in reducing greenhouse gas emissions and pollution while generating greater economic efficiency”, stated Valer Hancas, Communications and Corporate Affairs Director at Kaufland Romania.

The two stores’ annual electricity production will be 639.8 MWh, out of which the Bucharest store will generate 358.5 MWh, and the one in Focsani, 281.3 MWh. Simtel Teams will ensure the maintenance of the photovoltaic panels, which includes 24/7 monitoring, corrective remedies of any kind performed in 24 hours, and annual inspections to prevent any potential unpleasant situations in the future. With over 105 projects of photovoltaic power plants built, Simtel Team is a pioneer in solar energy in Romania. Between 2018-2020, the company was responsible for installing approximately half of the new photovoltaic power plants in Romania, both in number and installed power.

Currently, the company is working on completing 3.5MW of photovoltaic power plants, totaling over 9300 photovoltaic panels. Out of these projects, seven will have an installed capacity between 400-500 KW. Simtel Team is also implementing other smaller photovoltaic projects with an installed capacity between 80-120 KW.

Simtel Team is listed on the AeRO market since July 1, 2021. On 23 August 2021, SMTL shares were traded at a price of 29.2 lei per share, the company having a market capitalization of over 200 million lei.
