The Romanian Association for Green Energy and Sustainable Development (AREVDD), part of the Simtel Group, one of the leading players in the renewable energy sector in Romania, announces the launch of the educational program “Energy Heroes”. The program is a national initiative dedicated to primary school students and teachers, specifically designed for implementation within the National “Green Week” Program. It is part of AREVDD’s strategic pillar “Our energy, their future” and aims to help shape a new generation of children who are aware of the importance of green energy and responsible environmental behavior.

Through the ‘Energy Heroes’ program, we aim to change the paradigm of environmental education in primary schools, moving from simple information delivery to direct involvement. Children are not just recipients of sustainability messages; they become active messengers of change within their families and communities. We believe that real transformation begins when children understand that their actions matter and that they can have a tangible impact on the future. This program is about responsibility and the power of example, and the support of the Simtel Group enables us to bring practical expertise and high-quality educational content to schools across the country ,” stated Ana Nedea, President of AREVDD.

“Energy Heroes” is the first “Action-First” educational program developed for Green Week and the first civic engagement platform in Romania dedicated to students, transforming children from passive consumers of information into environmental influencers within their own communities. The program was designed as a comprehensive and easy-to-implement classroom tool, combining theoretical learning with practical action, while encouraging curiosity, responsibility, and active involvement in protecting the environment.

The mission of the program is to transform students from spectators into leaders of change, capable of passing on messages about responsible energy use and the importance of renewable sources both at school and at home. Through the proposed activities, children will learn what energy is, identify the main renewable energy sources, solar, wind, hydroelectric, and biomass, and understand the differences between these and polluting energy sources. The program emphasizes simple yet impactful actions, such as turning off lights when they are not needed, using natural light, and reducing energy waste in everyday life.

The program is addressed to students in grades 0–IV and to teachers who wish to implement relevant educational activities during Green Week. For teachers, “Energy Heroes” provides a complete teaching kit, including a detailed lesson plan with a duration of 45–50 minutes, video animations structured in easy-to-follow sequences, interactive worksheets adapted to different age groups, and diplomas for students. Participation in the program is recognized through the issuance of an official certificate for the professional portfolio and the conclusion of an educational partnership agreement.

In addition, participating schools will benefit from increased visibility through their inclusion on the national “Energy Heroes” community map, while the activities carried out will be promoted online, contributing to the creation of a network of best practices in environmental and green energy education.

The registration mechanism is fully digital and streamlined. Teachers can register online, gain immediate access to all educational resources, and, after conducting the classroom activities, submit a short report and 4-5 relevant photographs in order to receive the participation certificate. This system enables impact monitoring and the development of an active community of teachers and students involved in promoting green energy. More details about the program are available at: www.arevdd.ro/eroii-energiei.

Through the launch of “Energy Heroes”, AREVDD strengthens its role as a promoter of sustainability education and as a partner of the educational system in shaping responsible generations, capable of understanding the importance of renewable resources and actively contributing to environmental protection.
