Business holiday

This summer is a successful one for our company. On July 1, Simtel shares debuted on the AeRO market of the Bucharest Stock Exchange. It was a titanic job, managing together with partners and consultants to list ourselves just one month after the private placement. We think it’s going to be a busy summer, gathering a lot of new information and adjusting to what it means to be a public company, leading up to our first financial report for the first half of 2021 in September.

In terms of business, a busy period is predicted given the multiple large-scale projects. We currently have two significant PV projects underway with 2 major retailers, one a leading retail product sales leader and the second an international furniture retailer. We also continue to collaborate in the area of solar panels with our loyal customers – such as Dedeman, Mega Image, Penny Market, Altex. At the same time, we started a new business line of equipment distribution for the photovoltaic field, which has already managed to generate revenues of over 100,000 euros in just 2 months, and we are working on a large-scale photovoltaic park.

Certainties and predictability

As far as our business is concerned, the pandemic has not had a major influence on the activity carried out. Our main business lines – renewable energy, industrial automation and telecommunications – have been involved in numerous projects in the last year and a half and we expect a dynamic period in the near future as well. We are at a unique time for our business because the environment is favorable for all lines of business of the company. Also, with the BSE listing, we want to actively use the stock exchange to develop our business both in Romania and abroad.

Concerns

I don’t have a specific concern, but with the onset of high temperatures, I’m thinking more and more about the waste of sunshine in Romania. We have enormous potential to cover a good part of our electricity needs with the help of the sun and thus reduce pollution levels.

We need investment in solar power generation capacity to harness solar energy. Regarding our company’s activity in this field, we are happy to note that the private sector is slowly starting to become aware of the dangers of pollution and have started or are planning to start “greening” projects.

Business plans

Throughout the year, in addition to day-to-day projects, we focused on planning our IPO and growing our business. We have formed a new executive team with excellent expertise in business, financial markets and capital, and for the second half of the year we will focus on strengthening the teams in each business line. Also, by the end of the year we want to develop and promote the new equipment distribution line for the photovoltaic field. For 2022 or even earlier, we plan to raise new capital to further accelerate our development by engaging in more MA transactions to complement our range of services. We are particularly looking at companies operating in the service area of operating photovoltaic parks, energy production/consumption prediction, electric charging stations as well as companies operating in the industrial robotics niche. We are already in discussions with several target companies and have high expectations in this direction.

Vacation in the country or abroad

We try every year to take a quiet time to recharge our batteries and connect with nature. Our favorite place is Mount Athos, and this year, the trip there was even more special, thanks to the soul project we realized, thought of a year and a half ago and prepared for a long time. We set up photovoltaic panels at the monastery, so that the Romanian parents there have access to electricity.

After a 5-day construction, on a plane inclined at 40 degrees, in the heart of the mountain, between the rocks, we brought the light from the sun in the middle of Orthodoxy. It is a project carried out by the entire Simtel team, but especially by my colleagues who were with me at the “edge of the grass” for implementation – Iulian, Dragoș, Nicu and Dorin.
